Law Yin Zhi
Now working for PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Associate, 2015 Graduate Yin Zhi chose to do an accounting degree because of the earning potential and how he could grow in field. He also chose Accountancy because, like Law and Medicine, it was a professional certificate.
His first job during university was a finance position, but he later did internships that piqued his interest in auditing. He worked for Verity Partners, a medium-sized audit firm. As an intern, he was able to get sent out to the field for engagements which was a great experience getting to meet with clients. Yin Zhi later moved on to the Auditor General’s Office where his team was auditing one of the statutory boards. He feels that auditing offers him with a lot of opportunities and flexibility which cannot be found in other jobs.
Yin Zhi was encouraged by his colleagues to work at a Big 4 company due to being able to thrive in a challenging environment. It is also very stable and progression is very structured. He chose to work at PwC specifically because it was one of the best in the industry and he likes the culture and how they put a big emphasis on coaching and welfare for the staff. The culture is also very diverse and amicable, and there is a lot of room for progression as well as numerous opportunities within the PwC network for personal development.
